Plan International UK in Wales received Taith funding for a Pathway 1 project to explore how to effectively engage boys and young men in reducing gender-based violence. Their project aimed to reach boys and young men across Wales through an inward visit from their international partner She is Not Your Rehab (SINYR) and a virtual learning programme. They then took a group of staff and young people on an outward mobility to New Zealand. The visit provided opportunities to enhance their learning journey further by exploring both community and national level approaches to reducing gender-based violence and identifying new ways to share best practice.
Building on the success and learnings of their Pathway 1 project, Plan International UK applied for, and were successful in receiving, Pathway 2 funding. The project brought together young people, youth and education sector professionals, and SINYR to develop a resource that can be used in formal and non-formal youth and education settings. This resource will support professionals in the youth sector to create a conducive environment to address deep-rooted socialised attitudes and behaviours that can lead to gender-based violence.
