Capturing Your Journey: A Checklist

Here’s what to keep in mind as you document:

Consent is key

Ensure you have consent from everyone visible in your content. Don’t have a consent form? You can use ours found in the support resources section.

Diverse experiences

Show the full range of your adventure, from classroom learning to cultural outings.

Keep it real

Authentic, spontaneous moments tell the most compelling stories

No worries about perfection

If you're not confident with a camera, don't worry. We're not looking for professional quality. It's the story and the emotion behind the image or video that matter most to us.

Orientation

Capture portrait and horizontal images and horizontal videos.

Think about lighting

Utilise natural light for clarity.

Take multiple

It makes sure someone doesn’t have their eyes closed!

Consider the subjects

Logos can be within content as long as it's appropriate and related to your organisation or the Taith project. However, we’d be very grateful for content which isn’t branded which we could also use on promotional material.

Creative Engagement Tips
  • Storytelling: Often in life we try to remember our first moments, so why not make sure you are capturing all the first moments you can. The first time on a plane, the first time arriving at your destination, the first time meeting your international partner, the first learning achievement completed. The list can be endless and get creative with where you can find your ‘firsts’.
  • Photo / Video Challenges: Why not get everyone within your party to do a video diary, it could be that they each take it in turns to capture the moments from each day.  The day doesn’t need to be full of adventures. We want to see the shared learning, collaboration and discovery taking place, but of course days out included in the experience to cultural landmarks, or sites visited should also be included.
  • Emotions: Consider how you, or the participants are feeling each day and if there is a special moment that could be captured. It might be the participants talking about their first impressions, how they feel being away from home, what the biggest thing is that they’ve learnt so far.

Whilst going out and experiencing a new country/culture (which can include food, drink, fun activities etc.) is great to see and an important aspect of your mobility/project, it is essential that you convey the learning aspect of your experience.

When considering your images and videos please think about:
  • Educational impact
  • Learning in action
  • Candid moments
  • Cultural exchanges and social interactions
  • The authenticity of your journey, captured through your lens, is what we value most
