Taith funding leads to creation of youth focussed social impact organisation tackling gender-based violence

A powerful international exchange funded by Taith has led to the launch of Our Voice Our Journey (OVOJ), a new youth-led organisation tackling gender-based violence and inequality in Wales.

The idea was born during a Taith project led by Plan International UK, which took eight young people and eight adults on a life-changing trip to New Zealand. During this mobility, they connected with grassroots organisations, including She Is Not Your Rehab, exploring how storytelling and community healing can address intergenerational harm.

The experience inspired participants to go beyond the project, forming a new organisation focused on systems change and youth empowerment. OVOJ now supports young people across Wales to challenge harmful norms, lead campaigns, and create a fairer, safer future.

This video captures the journey, the voices behind it, and how Taith helped turn an exchange into a new approach, which isn’t just looking to support individuals, but is focused on tackling wider structures, narratives and cultures which allow harm to persist.
