The Betty Campbell scholarship in Cardiff University offers students who are studying part, or all, of their course through the medium of Welsh additional funding and support to complete their studies. The scholarship focuses on supporting underrepresented students in the Welsh language student community, such as those from ethnic minority backgrounds, disadvantaged backgrounds or those who are first in their family to write and speak Welsh fluently. In 2024, students on the scholarship went to the University of Waikato, New Zealand. This provided an opportunity to compare the similarities and differences between the Māori and Welsh cultures, languages, and histories, which lead to a sense of pride within the participants about being Welsh.
